Mini Reviews: September 9
by John P. McCarthy

Below is a Mini Review from Cineman Syndicate for one movie opening on September 9, 2009.

NINE

Expanding on his Oscar-nominated short film, Tim Burton protégé Shane Acker has shaped a heart-stopping movie that catapults viewers into a ferocious and highly intricate fantasy world. With its techno-Frankenstein themes, the post-apocalyptic story isn't groundbreaking yet the "stitchpunk" visuals, descended from Burton's stop-motion style and similar techniques, are stunning and bound to scare the wits out of young children and their jittery elders. The only sentient beings that have survived a war between machines and humans are nine burlap dolls. Can they endure attacks by their relentless mechanical foes? Soulful, streamlined and brilliantly executed, this is a contender for best action film of the year. (PG-13) GREAT ANIMATED ADVENTURE.

Director - Shane Acker

Lead - Elijah Wood

Running Time - 81 minutes
