Cloris Leachman on Movie Addict Headquarters
by Betty Jo Tucker

Fans of Cloris Leachman are saddened by her recent passing. All of us at Movie Addict Headquarters feel lucky to have had the experience of talking with her a few years ago on one of our favorite BlogTalkRadio shows. She brought along her own sound effects as she ambushed all of us during this very funny interview. Cloris talked about her autobiography, working with Mel Brooks, her experience at the Actor’s Studio, her iconic film roles, plus much more! George Englund Jr.  -- Cloris’ manager son -- joined in the fun.

With a wealth of acting experience to draw from, Cloris related many humorous incidents for listeners to enjoy, while George revealed what it was like for him to be his mother’s manager.

Cloris wowed audiences for over half a century. She’s worked with such megastars as Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Steve McQueen, Katharine Hepburn, Dianne Keaton and Sissy Spacek. Among her numerous memorable films are The Last Picture Show (which earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar), Young Frankenstein  and High Anxiety. Her television career is equally remarkable -- even without considering her sensational appearance on Dancing with the Stars. She’s won nine Emmys for her brilliant work in such shows as Malcolm in the Middle, Mary Tyler Moore, Promised Land, and A Brand New Life.

“Acting is fun; it isn’t work to me,” Cloris said, “I’m happy and excited when I’m acting, and that is the reward.”

We are pleased to present this “Cloris Leachman Comedy Ambush" show again as a tribute to one of America's funniest ladies. Listeners can hear this vintage interview at any time by clicking on the link below.
