Filmmaker David Spaltro: In the Dark
by
On October 13, award-winning filmmaker David Spaltro returns to Movie Addict Headquarters for a discussion of In the Dark, his new horror film about demonic possession.
Spaltro calls In the Dark a lovingly bloody valentine to the inspirational works of Stephen King, John Carpenter and The Exorcist. His movie combines the thrills and chills -- a staple of the horror genre – with an original story headed by a strong female cast. The World Premiere for this scary offering is scheduled on October 15.
Previously, Spaltro wrote, directed, produced and edited the feature films …Around and Things I Don’t Understand, which screened in over 45 film festivals and won 18 Best Feature awards as well as a host of acting, writing, and directing honors. Spaltro also directed the short films The Cat’s Cradle and Drug Mule, and is writing/directing an adaptation of Gothic horror novelist Steven Peck’s A Short Stay in Hell, as well as writing-directing-producing Wake Up in New York, the final chapter of his NYC Valentine Trilogy through his company andering/Cut Films.
Boasting an intriguing background, Spaltro holds a BFA in Directing, taught English for six months in Korea, worked as an editor on a behind-the-scenes feature for Where the Wild Things Are, served as a production assistant on Gracie, and is an avid boxer with training in Akido, Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Tae Kwan Do and Wushu. He also co-executive produced the web series “Caught in the Act.”
