Great Movie Tunes
by
Movie Addict HQ salutes singers and songs from favorite films during its second annual musical tribute scheduled for March 19. Among the artists to be honored are Al Jolson, Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Lucie Arnaz, Charlie Chaplin and more. Ever since Jolson sang “Toot Toot Tootsie” in The Jazz Singer back in 1927, movie tunes have been entertaining viewers throughout the world. Of course, it’s not possible to recognize all of Hollywood’s memorable film music in one show, but a variety of singers and songs are included in this special episode.
Join in the fun while listening to the great movie tunes below -- plus some surprises!
“Footloose” (from the movie of the same name; performed by Kenny Loggins)
“Toot Toot Tootsie” (from The Jazz Singer; performed by Tony Babino)
“I Can’t Give You Anything but Love” (from Stormy Weather; performed by Judy Garland & Lorna Luft)
“Singin’ in the Rain” (from the movie of the same name; performed by Gene Kelly)
“Smile” (from Modern Times)
“You and the Night and the Music” (from The Band Wagon; performed by Lucie Arnaz on her “Latin Roots” CD)
“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (from Meet Me in St. Louis)
“Time Warp” (from The Rocky Horror Picture Show)
“As Time Goes By” (Casablanca theme song; performed by Bryan Ferry)
“Great Movie Tunes” airs on BlogTalkRadio at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time) on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. During the live show, listeners are encouraged to participate in a chat as well as to call in. An archived segment will also be available.
