George Clooney Tribute
by Betty Jo Tucker

Movie Addict Headquarters pays tribute to one of Hollywood’s most popular actors on March 27. A revealing interview with Kimberly Potts, author of George Clooney: The Last Great Movie Star, will be revisited, followed by a discussion of Clooney’s latest projects as an actor and activist. The busy star received Oscar nominations for two 2011 films: The Descendants and The Ides of March. Currently, he’s deeply involved in efforts to solve the tragic ethnic cleansing crisis in Sudan.

Clooney’s acting career includes experience in 70 films and TV series. He’s earned seven Academy Award nominations – four for acting (The Descendants, Michael Clayton, Up in the Air and Syriana), one for directing (Good Night, and Good Luck), and two for screenwriting (The Ides of March and Good Night, and Good Luck). He won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Syriana. A new movie, Gravity, is in post-production, and 8 should be released later this year. Clooney’s television credits are also impressive, as indicated by roles in such series as ER, Sisters, and Roseanne.

In her well-researched biography of Clooney, Potts presents fascinating details and behind-the-scenes information about the man she calls “The Last Great Movie Star.” After taking readers back to Clooney’s early years, Potts then explains how this small-town boy used his good looks, charm and personal ethics on his journey to becoming a serious actor, writer, producer, director and humanitarian. She also explores Clooney’s outspoken nature, his concern for others, and his involvement in important causes, including obtaining aid for Darfur refugees.

This “George Clooney Tribute Show” airs on BlogTalkRadio at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time) on Tuesday, March27. During the live show, listeners are invited to participate in a chat. An archived segment will also be available.
