Now starring in NBC’s fantastical mystery/crime show Grimm, actor Russell Hornsby drops by Movie Addict Headquarters on February 21 to talk about his diverse experience in films, TV and on stage.
Hornsby’s movie credits include Get Rich or Die Tryin’, Forgiven, Meet the Parents, Edmond, Big Fat Liar, Train Ride, Woo and Stuck. He also boasts impressive work on such television series as Lincoln Heights, In Treatment, Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, and Law & Order. On stage, he has appeared as the Scarecrow in The Wiz and played lead roles in To Kill a Mockingbird and in Six Degrees of Separation. He recently worked on Broadway alongside Denzel Washington and Viola Davis in Fences.
In Grimm, Hornsby plays homicide detective Hank Griffin, the partner of Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who has the ability to recognize supernatural creatures and is from a long line of “Grimms” struggling to save humanity from these storybook evil doers. Unfortunately, detective Griffin doesn’t know about this special mission, so he finds himself in some strange situations indeed. It’s a very intriguing series!
Although born and raised in Oakland, California, Hornsby studied theatre at Boston University and at the British Academy of Dramatic Arts at Oxford University.
