Judy Joy Jones: Actress & Artist
by Betty Jo Tucker

Judy Joy Jones joins the Movie Addict Headquarters gang on January 4th for a discussion about inspirational films. Judy is an actress, artist, photographer, poet, and librettist. Her acting credits include appearances on the Discovery Channel plus in such movies and TV programs as Dreaming of the Dead, Dora the Explorer, Trauma, and The Walking Dead. Judy’s upcoming book When a Saint Calls, Surrender! promises to be inspirational indeed, for it concerns her work with Mother Teresa.

Bones of the Homeless, Judy’s first book, is filled with stark black and white images of the homeless alongside “in your face” poems about the plight of the homeless. Her first spoken word/music CD recorded by Ray Charles bass player Curtis Ohlson includes many of the poems in this book.

According to Terry Messman, The “Street Spirit” newspaper editor, Judy's poems about the homeless “speak directly to the souls of the readers and appeal to our hearts for rebirth of compassion, justice, and love towards the poorest of our brothers and sisters.”

Judy added to her artistic recognition by winning the “Brava for Women in the Arts” contest in San Francisco for her opera libretto based on the life of painter Frida Kahlo and her muralist husband Diego Rivera. Judy’s painting of Janis Joplin has also received widespread acclaim. Her Judy Joy Jones Show aired on BlogTalkRadio from 2008 to 2010 with celebrity guests including scientists, authors, publishers, musicians/composers and entertainers.

This Judy Joy Jones interview can be heard on BlogTalkRadio at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time) on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. During the live show, listeners are invited to call in and to participate in a chat. An archived segment will also be available.
