New Jules Verne Film
by
Toby Stubbs, a teenage student from the United Kingdom, visited Movie Addict Headquarters on March 30th to discuss plans for making a film version of Clovis Dardentor, the novel by Jules Verne. Toby and his friends Adrian Bliss and Ben Robbins have already signed actor Stephen Fry to star in the movie, and they’ve received additional support from such famous British actors as Ian McKellen, Rowan Atkinson and Joanna Lumley. Over 7,000 people have signed on as producers of this film through an innovative online funding campaign organized by the enthusiastic youngsters.
Toby, Ben and Adrian were in the British Library when they found the forgotten Jules Verne novel. Quickly deciding to pool their talents and film the book, they set up a web site http://www.BuyACredit.com offering a producer listing at the end of the movie if you donate $10.00 or pay $100.00 for a pixel ad with a producer credit. People can use the pixels they buy to display an ad or logo and have a link to their own site.
One of the first pixel ad buyers was the famous comic actor Stephen Fry who also agreed to star in their movie. He has mentored and tweeted about their movie frequently. He filmed on their high school grounds and had several famous British actors in it at no fee.
People in countries who have purchased pixel ads are from, USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Prince Charles, Sir Cliff Richard and Lucas films all sent their best wishes and support via letters, and Jude Law filmed a short video asking the public to join in and support the filming.
During the March 30th live interview, listeners were invited to call in and to participate in a chat. An archived segment is now available.
