Honoring Legendary Film Actors
by
James Stewart, Gregory Peck, Gene Kelly, Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman are among the first actors to be inducted into the MAHQ Screen Legends Hall of Fame. Film historian James Colt Harrison and Diana Saenger from Classic Movie Guide return to Movie Addict Headquarters on May 12th for a discussion of all twelve honorees. Will your favorite actor make the list? Listen to this BlogTalkRadio show and find out!
MAHQ’s Screen Legends Hall of Fame has been established to recognize outstanding cinema contributions in a variety of areas. James, Diana, and I make up the selection committee -- and last month we chose the following actresses to honor: Bette Davis, Ingrid Bergman, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow and Marlene Dietrich.
James and Diana are eminently qualified to serve on this important committee. James, who’s the premier film critic for the La Jolla Village News, has written a complete history of the early Hollywood studios and is currently working on a book about the subject. Diana, the founder and editor of Classic Movie Guide, is also the entertainment editor for San Diego’s East County Gazette. Because of their expertise, both James and Diana recently served as panelists at Robert Osborne’s Fifth Annual Classic Film Festival
In response to our listeners, we are considering contemporary actors as well as classic actors. And we have “grandfathered in” Humphrey Bogart, Michael Caine, Paul Newman and Hugh Jackman because MAHQ has already aired tributes to these memorable actors.
Our “Legendary Film Actors” show is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time). During the live show, listeners are invited to call in and to participate in a chat. An archived segment will also be available.
