Michael CaineTribute on BTR
by
ShoWest will honor Michael Caine with its 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award on April 2, so the upcoming “Movie Addict Headquarters” Tribute to one of our all-time favorite actors is quite timely. Special guests include award-winning blogger Fausta Wertz -- an avid Michael Caine fan -- and noted film critic John P. McCarthy. ShoWest officials have also been invited to participate.
Discussion will focus on Michael Caine’s best movies and performances from among his 140 film and television appearances. It will be difficult to choose, for this talented actor has won acclaim for his brilliant work in such diverse movies as Alfie, The Ipcress File, Educating Rita, Secondhand Lions, Sleuth, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Blood and Wine, Zulu, The Italian Job, Dressed To Kill, Miss Congeniality, Get Carter, Little Voice, The Man Who Would Be King, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Quiet American, Cider House Rules and Hannah and Her Sisters. (Caine won well-deserved Oscars for his supporting roles in the last two films mentioned.)
When announcing Michael Caine’s ShoWest honor, Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of ShoWest, declared, “He simply does it all so incredibly well, be it comedy, drama or action.”
Michael Caine's new film, Is Anybody There? opens on April 17. According to the press release, Caine "gives one of the finest performances of his career as a retired magician who reluctantly enters a family-run old age home." The story takes place in a seaside English town during the late 80s and focuses on a friendship between Caine's character and the troubled young son of the home's owners.
In addition to his impressive acting credits, Michael Caine penned a fascinating autobiography titled What’s It All About? as well as the popular Acting in Film: An Actor’s Take on Movie Making.
This special BlogTalkRadio tribute airs at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, March 31. During the live show, listeners are invited to call in and to participate in a chat. An archived segment will also be available.
