Deep Cinema Explored on BTR
by
What do Whale Rider, Dead Man, and What Dreams May Come have in common? Find out by listening to Mary Trainor-Brigham discuss her new book, Deep Cinema: Film as Shamanic Initiation, on the next Movie Addict Headquarters show.
Mary, an Art Therapist with an M.A. in Culture & Spirituality, is also a film critic whose column was submitted for a Pulitzer Prize. She’s noted for combining her passions for cinema and indigenous cultures in therapeutic programs, international workshops and documentary films. In Deep Cinema, Mary brings together these same passions as she makes a compelling case for deeper cinematic storytelling.
Professionally, Mary includes acting and teaching experience in her background. She has performed in a number of stage productions -- such as the Boston Opera Company's Montezuma. She developed and taught film classes for the United Way of Massachusetts, and one of her most impressive honors involved the opportunity of interviewing and photographing the Dalai Lama.
The Movie Addict Headquarters show featuring Mary Trainor-Brigham airs on BlogTalk Radio on Tuesday, September 23, at 4 p.m. Eastern Time. During the live show, listeners are invited to call the show and to participate in a chat. The call-in number is 646-478-5668. An archived segment will also be available.
