Casablanca Film Tribute
by
Everything you’ve always wanted to know about the classic movie Casablanca can be found in Casablanca Film Trivia: Here’s Looking at You, Kid! -- a new book by Tom Barnes.
“By turning 65 this year, the world’s most revered film qualifies for Medicare, just like I do,” Barnes quips. “Now that Casablanca has reached old age, it is time to reflect on the film’s impact since winning the Academy Award for best picture 65 years ago...What better way to honor Casablanca than a book of trivia about all aspects of the film and its filming?”
Barnes includes 1,130 questions about Casablanca in his fun trivia book, and he’s worked on these questions for the past 15 years. The questions cover such areas as history, actors, script, critics, images, characters, production staff, music, geography, goofs, and clothing. Each of the 33 chapters centers on a specific category or theme, and most of the chapters end with interesting “factoids” about this fascinating movie.
As a Casablanca fan, I had a great time trying to answer Barnes’ questions while reading his book. I also learned some intriguing new information about one of my favorite movies.
Because Barnes is a former teacher, that’s probably one of the reasons he does such an excellent job holding the reader’s interest in this trivia book. And, guess what? He’s also working on “The Casablanca Trivia Board Game,” which is now in the prototype stage.
On Tuesday, August 19, Barnes will discuss his Casablanca Film Trivia book on “Movie Addict Headquarters.” My producer Nikki Starr and I are happy to announce that Diana Saenger (from Classic Movie Guide) and Jazz Shaw (from MidStream Radio) will also be joining us. This show airs at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on BlogTalkRadio, and an archived segment will be available.
During the live show, listeners are invited to share their Casablanca reactions by calling the show or participating in a chat. The call-in number is 646-478-5668.
