Beginning with an epic adventure about a mammoth hunter in prehistoric times and ending with a comedy showing a modern-day loser trying to win back his lost love, the month of March 2008 offers a hodgepodge of movies to choose from. Here’s the schedule, but remember all release dates are subject to change:

MARCH 7

10,000 B.C.  Hunky Steven Strait, as D’Leh, must secure the future of his tribe in this sweeping action movie directed by Roland Emmerich of Independence Day fame.  

College Road Trip. What’s a father to do when he wants to help his very smart teenage daughter choose the perfect college? Take her on a search around the country, of course. Martin Lawrence and Raven star as the father/daughter team in this comedy of errors.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. Frances McDormand and Amy Adams co-star in this humorous film version of Winifred Watson's novel about the friendship between a prim middle-aged governess and an alluring  night club singer. 

The Bank Job. A supposedly foolproof bank heist goes awry -- much to Jason Statham’s surprise. The lovely Saffron Burrows plays a model who gives Statham’s character the bank lead in this Roger Donaldson thriller based on a true story. 

MARCH 14

Doomsday. The Reaper Virus is loose in Great Britain and killing everything in its wake. Will scientists be able to find a cure? Rhona Mitra, Bob Hoskins and Malcolm MacDowell star in this sci-fi thriller.  

Funny Games U.S. A married couple and their young son find themselves living a nightmare instead of enjoying a pleasant weekend vacation as planned. This horror thriller features Naomi Watts, Tim Roth and Devon Gearheart as the unfortunate family.   

Horton Hears a Who!  In this animated version of the Dr. Seuss classic, Jim Carrey lends his voice talent as Horton, an elephant trying to save a tiny community that no one believes exists. Other voices heard include those belonging to Steve Carell, Isla Fisher, Dane Cook and Carol Burnett.

Never Back Down. A martial arts expert, played by Djimon Hounsou, becomes mentor to a rebellious teenager in this action drama. Sean Faris co-stars.  

MARCH 21

Drillbit Taylor. If you were a youngster being bullied, would you hire someone named Drillbit Taylor to protect you? Probably, if he looks and acts like Owen Wilson. At least he would make you laugh while goofing up his assignment.    

Meet the Browns.  Angela Bassett, one of my favorite actresses, stars in Tyler Perry’s latest film. This one tells the story of a single mom who travels with her family to Georgia to attend the funeral of her father -- even though she never met him when he was alive. While there, she meets the high-spirited Brown family. The excellent cast includes Margaret Avery, Irma P. Hall, Rick Fox, Jenifer Lewis, Lance Gross and Perry himself (as Madea/Uncle Joe).  

MARCH 28

21.  After being trained in card-counting, six MIT students took millions of dollars from Las Vegas casinos. Based on a true incident, 21 stars Jim Sturgess, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne.

Stop Loss. Ryan Phillippe portrays a decorated Iraqi war hero whose world starts unraveling when he’s called back to duty in Iraq. Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Leavitt, Rob Brown and Timothy Olyphant also appear in this timely drama.     

Superhero Movie. Leslie Nielsen stars in this action comedy that pokes fun at all superhero movies. I can hardly wait to see it!

Run, Fat Boy, Run. So what if our clueless hero left his true love on their wedding day? That was five years ago. Now he wants to win her back. Unfortunately, a more suave, sophisticated man stands in his way. Judging from the film’s trailer, Simon Pegg, Thandie Newton and Hank Azaria have fun with their roles in this unusual romantic comedy.
