National Poetry Month
by
April is National Poetry Month, so I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped me put together my two award-winning Cinema Stanzas E-books. It was such fun writing them for lovers of poetry and cinema! Cinema Stanzas: Rhyming about Movies and Cinema Stanzas Two: Poet Laureate of the Movies were lucky to have a splendid and caring publisher like Denise Cassino as well as two excellent film critics, Phil Hall and Richard Jack Smith, who wrote elegant Forewords for each book.
Plus, poet Ronald Hull and versatile actor Brian J Shirley contributed terrific blurbs for the book covers. And the Royal Dragonfly Book Awards judges who surprised me with two awards made me very happy. Also, I am grateful to Pixabay.com for colorful images in the second book, to readers who purchased the books, and to the folks who wrote comments about my work. Below are some excerpts.
If I get to vote for Poet Laureate of Movies, you are in! --- Artist/Poet/Author Judy Joy Jones
If ever there was a Poet Laureate of the Movies, Betty Jo Tucker should receive that coveted award. --- Grace Allison, Award-winning author of Einstein’s Compass
Poet Laureate of Movies is a most befitting title for Betty Jo Tucker, beloved by all and humbled by the films and filmmakers that have been memorialized in her poems! --- Gail Parenteau, Actor and Publicist
I love the poetic touch from your “Stray” review, which was so clever and unique. I'm a bit flattered we now have our own poem, in fact. --- Alex Hanno, Director of Elephants.
Oh my god, Betty Jo, that made me cry. I don't know what to say. I'm stunned. Your poem IS the review. Thank you. --- Nena Eskridge, Director of Stray
Love the Poem-Review, Betty Jo! It’s our very first review for “Ovation” and it comes in such a lovely and unexpected form…in such a unique and unexpected shape. And yet it catches the spirit of the film, in some magical way! --- Henry Jaglom, Director of Ovation
I have to admit the following:
Films cause me to commit the crime
of turning movies into rhyme.
Happy National Poetry Month!
