I loved A Bad Moms Christmas. Simple words to describe almost two hours of constant laughter. Meanwhile, an ingenious script by directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore plants the lucky fairy on top of the Christmas tree.

Beyond that, first-rate casting houses more than a few baubles. Of note, the three mums played by Susan Sarandon, Christine Baranski and Cheryl Hines perfectly complement the chosen trio that play their daughters. For example, the always watchable Mila Kunis can be found at story’s heart. The latter soon discovers bossy parenthood brings out the best (and worst) in family reunions. By contrast, Kathryn Hahn proves almost too much as the spa worker whose latest male client makes her all googly-eyed. Finally, there’s Kristen Bell and although her journey seems subordinate to the others, she capitalizes on the smallest gestures and opportunities.

While A Bad Moms Christmas unfolds at a sparkling pace, one scene nearly reduced me to tears.

They plan to take Christmas back

proving they’ve still got the knack.

Then their parents show

who’s really in the know.

Happily, jokes and blunders galore

save festive snore.

Hard to count the number of laughs

It’s a present for the most critical soul.

Forget your troubles -- climb out of that icy hole.
