Andrew Lawton & the Power of 'Wake'
by Betty Jo Tucker

Australian-born filmmaker Andrew Lawton visited  Movie Addict Headquarters on Tuesday, June 23, to discuss Wake, his emotionally powerful short film that’s more moving than most full-length, big budget dramas.

According to author and film critic Phil Hall, “With Wake, Lawton is poised to make his mark as a writer/director of uncommon sensitivity and artistic talent.” And critic Rory L. Aronsky says Wake is “clever and deeply layered -- I want to spend more time in Lawton’s cinematic care.”

Lawton also talked about his other movies and acting experience during this BlogTalkRadio interview. He  directed Rain, a feature thriller which premiered in Melbourne, as well as the short Some Guy Called Toby. As an actor, Lawton has appeared in the popular soap opera One Life To Live (playing Logan) as well as in the Neighbours and State Coroner TV shows.

After studying film at the University of Melbourne, Lawton moved to New York to work on a Masters Degree in Film and Theatre. He currently serves as President and Creative Director of Kinetic Media in New York City.

Lawton’s Movie Addict Headquarters interview aired at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time) on BlogTalkRadio on Tuesday, June 23rd. During the live show, listeners were invited to take part in a Chat and to call in with any questions or comments. An archived segment is now available.
