Drama Mamas: Best & Worst Film Moms
by Betty Jo Tucker

During the month of May, Movie Addict Headquarters is featuring a vintage ON DEMAND interview with Kimberly Potts, author and entertainment journalist, who discusses films featuring mothers as key characters. Among the many movies covered are: Mommie Dearest, Carrie, Postcards from the Edge, Terms of Endearment, Mildred Pierce, Monster-in-Law and Lorenzo’s Oil.

Potts is the author of several books, including George Clooney: The Last Great Movie Star and Everything I Need To Know I Learned from a Chick Flick. She’s also written for AOL Television, TV Guide, US Weekly, Inside TV, Movies.com, LATimes.com, Metromix.com, E! Online, Daily Variety, iVillage.com, Teenmag.com, the Detroit Free Press, and the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Questions for discussion include:

What are the best and worst films focusing on a mother in the key role?

Which actresses have given the best and worst film performances as mothers?

Why do so many movies paint such a negative portrait of mothers?

HOST:  Betty Jo Tucker
